Privacy Notice - Driving by Rob

This privacy notice is designed to help you understand why I need to collect and store your personal
information, how I use it, who I may share it with, and how long I keep it. It also explains your rights
under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and how you can exercise them.
1. Who I Am
I, Rob Trehy, trading as Driving by Rob, am the data controller for any personal information I collect from you. You

2. What Personal Information I Collect
I may collect the following information from you:

- Email address
- Telephone number(s)
- Date of birth
- Pickup/drop-off locations
- Provisional driving licence details
- Lesson appointment records
- Payment records
- Learning progress and driving test results
- Photographs and reviews (with consent)
- Dash cam footage (outward-facing only)

4. Dash Cam Usage
- My tuition vehicle is equipped with an outward-facing dash cam.
- It does not record audio, and inward-facing footage is not used.
- Footage is retained for a maximum of 30 days unless required for an insurance claim.
- Clear signage is displayed in the vehicle.
- If footage is needed for other purposes, I will seek your written
consent.
5. Marketing and Testimonials
- I may ask to take your photo and publish a testimonial after you pass your driving test.
- This is entirely optional, and your consent can be withdrawn at
any time.
- Testimonials may appear on social media or my website. Please be aware I cannot control third-party
sharing of content on platforms like Facebook or Instagram, but I will promptly remove posts I
control upon your request.
6. How I Keep Your Data Secure
I take the security of your information seriously:
- Paper records are stored in a locked cabinet.
- Digital records are stored on password-protected devices and/or
within GDPR-compliant online platforms.
- Footage is retained for a maximum of 30 days unless required for an insurance claim.
- Only I have access to your personal data unless sharing is required to deliver services (see below).
7. Third Parties I May Share Your Data With
I may share your data with the following:
- DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) to book driving
tests.
- App or Hub providers used to manage lesson progress or
scheduling.
- Insurance companies, if required, in the event of an incident.
All third-party providers are contractually required to handle your data in compliance with UK GDPR and
only under my instructions.
8. International Data Transfers
If any data is transferred or stored outside the UK (e.g., by an app provider), I will ensure appropriate
safeguards are in place, such as:
- Adequacy decisions by the UK Government, or
- UK-approved Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Your Rights Under the UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access - Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to rectification - Ask for incorrect data to be corrected.
- Right to erasure - Request deletion of your data (subject to
legal requirements).
- Right to restrict processing - Ask me to stop processing in
certain situations.
- Right to data portability - Ask to transfer your data to another
provider.
- Right to object - Object to processing based on legitimate
interests or for marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent - Withdraw consent at any time where
consent was given.

10. How Long I Keep Your Information
I retain:
- Business and accounting records for 7 years (legal requirement)
- Lesson progress and test outcomes for up to 3 years post-service
- Dash cam footage for up to 30 days, unless needed longer for an
active claim
- Marketing photos and testimonials only with your ongoing consent
Once no longer needed, all data is securely deleted or destroyed.
